Around Town, Part 1

Update on our first half of summer in the city: We have been out and about, enjoying all kinds of activities, from running, biking, eating, going to the farmers market, attending worship, and relaxing at the Taste of Bloomington!

Can you tell I like taking pictures? And it’s so easy with my Samsung Galaxy S4 phone. I usually carry it in an armband when I’m running or biking, making it a quick go-to for impromptu photo ops. So far, the only thing that has eluded me, was a really fast wild turkey running across the BLine (the paved trail that runs thru town) when I was biking! That’s all for this week-stay tuned. I had to save some photos for my next post, which will include the recipe for a refreshing summer cocktail!

I’m Currently

Reviewing: Lots of fantastic products and companies! My latest review is for ENERGYbits, and you can read all about how I’ve started using these little “bits of food” (algae) to energize me for my runs. I’ll be taking the last of my sample provided by ENERGYbits tomorrow before participating in a 5k. Wish me luck!

Eating: Fresh Produce! I love summer! My own square foot garden, the farmers market, and even the grocers have great tasting fresh berries!

Carrying: My iPad! Yes, it’s an obsession. And I’m okay with that!

Running: Wow, this one’s easy. I’m running a lot now, and loving it. God has sent me two beautiful women to run with for the summer at least. This has breathed new life into my attitude and motivation. We encourage one another and spur each other on to greatness. Well, our own form of greatness! I’m scheduled to run a 5k in the morning, my second of the season. At the beginning of 2013 I set a goal of participating in six timed events this year! I’m a little behind, but I’m confident I will be able get them all in! I can do all things thru Him who gives me strength! (Philippians 4:13)

Time is flying by so fast; we’re already into the second half of the year! Did that just conjur up Christmas anxiety anyone?

I’m Currently

Loving: First and foremost, God. He is my provider, my healer, my redeemer, and my source for everything. Running. Yes, I love it. My family, of course. And summer. I love summer! It’s the opposite of winter.

Craving:Sweets, oddly. I used to only eat salty snacks. But in recent years, I have developed a sweet tooth. Good thing I’m running! Also, vacation. I’m craving a vacation. That could go under the love category too. I love vacations! Oh. And I have a friend who just made macarons and posted them on Instagram! I’m definitely craving those!

Missing:My friend who lives in another state. Great friend. And I will, Lord willing, see her in just a few weeks! Yay!

Listening:TobyMac has a new song I recently am obsessed with, Steal My Show. Love it, added it to my running playlist! You’ve got to check it out!

Wishing:I don’t wish for much. I hope, and I pray. But if given three wishes, I think I’d wish for…1)A stronger body for running. I’m pretty wimpy! 2)I’d wish for my house to be sold and to already be moved into a new home when I wake up in the morning! 3)The super power of teleportation. You know, snap my fingers and be at the beach. Snap them again and be back home. I could go for that. Especially on those long car rides home from vacation.

Currently…This Week’s Update!

It’s been a crazy week!

I’m Currently

Watching: Too much tv. Hubby has been out of town, so the dog and the television have kept me company! I’ve actually been catching up on some movies I recorded during one of those “free preview” weekends. Tonight I watched Trouble With The Curve, starring the great Clint Eastwood, along with Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, and John Goodman. I love anything Clint does. He’s a true American classic.

Reading: Thankfully, I’ve gotten back to reading my Bible a little more. Trying to memorize the book of Philippians. If you believe in the power of prayer, send one up for me right now. I can use all the help I can get! This brain isn’t getting any younger!

Eating: Not very healthy this week. When hubby isn’t home, I don’t cook much, which leads to eating junk. I hate that. I did eat a salad yesterday. That counteracts the chips, right? Oh, and I’m trying out these new Chia Bars by Health Warrior. Awesome! I’ll tell more about these next week. And I had a couple of healthy smoothies for breakfast this week. I eat best at breakfast!

Drinking: Water, coffee, smoothies, and Tonight, a margarita with a friend while we watched the movie!

Learning: A lot. How to say goodbye to a dear friend who passed away. How to let go, and make peace with decisions, and still love the people we leave behind on our journey. To wait. On God’s timing. To run alone and be okay with that. To get up early so I can run before the blazing sun catches me! And to make jam! Hey, I said I’m learning a lot!

Forming: Isn’t this the same thing as building? I guess we form opinions. I have a few of those! But some things are better off unspoken. Who said that? A wise person for sure!

Sharing: Coupons, lettuce, magazines, recipes, and photos. Lots of photos.

Dreading: Saying goodbye. We lost a dear friend this week.

Singing: “I love the way you hold me” by Jayme Grace and “My Body” by Young the Giant! Two very different genres, but both on my running playlist!
