Product Review: Copper Moon – The Best Coffee You’ve Never Tasted!

I do love my coffee! Anyone who knows me, probably already knows this. You can frequently find me at any of the local Starbuck’s, whether meeting someone for some girl time, or swinging by the drive-thru while out running errands. What you may not know, is that I don’t just down my drink and move on to the next cup. I savor the flavor of my coffee. It’s more of an “experience” for me. This being said, I have used and owned several methods of  “brewing”. The Italian stove-top Bialetti espresso maker, the modern electric coffee maker, two French coffee presses, and now, of course, the ever popular Keurig! Being the only coffee drinker in my home, I chose the single-serve Keurig to save space on my coffee bar. Oh yes, I have a coffee bar. wpid-20140715_222851.jpg I also am a penny pincher, coupon clipper, loyalty card shopper. I like a bargain as much as the next girl! But I also don’t want to sacrifice taste/flavor in order to save a penny. Or even a dollar. So imagine my excitement when I discover Copper Moon coffee on the shelves at my local Kroger supermarket! Yay! A great tasting coffee at a great price! No sacrifice. A win-win! 1405426968233[1] Now I have not received confirmation,  but the pods used by Copper Moon seem to be more eco-friendly than the typical kcups used by most coffee makers. They have a mesh like pod that houses the coffee, which appears to be more biodegradable.  The pods are packaged in a foilpack for freshness, then boxed for the shelves. 20140715_181446[1]20140715_181454[1] There are several varieties of Copper Moon coffee. Kenyan, Kona, Sumatra, and even Cappuccino. I chose to try Costa Rican blend; a medium roast with a rich, yet smooth flavor. And I love it! I can’t recommend it enough! To me, it is rich and bold, smooth and relaxing. Everything I enjoy in a great cup of my favorite indulgence.

Copper Moon is a Fair Trade company. And they are a small business located in Lafayette, Indiana, making them a U.S. company as well!

So when you purchase their coffee, you are supporting American jobs!  I love that!

For more info on Copper Moon, including their “story”, which is pretty interesting,  along with a list of varieties,  locations, etc… please visit their website at http://www.coppermooncoffee.com You can order online, directly from their site, or print a coupon to use locally!

You’ve got to love their motto:   Slow down.  Look up. Taste life. Sounds good to me!

Be sure to leave a comment to let me know if you get the opportunity to try Copper Moon. Or let me know: What is your favorite coffee this summer?

A Birchbox Sneak Peek!

Okay, so I don’t normally publish two related posts back-to-back. But I just received an email from Birchbox with a sneak peek video of the August box and had to share! So that’s it! Click on the link to the video. Enjoy! http://youtu.be/_f63HT3MjZk

Birchbox, My Favorite Beauty Subscription!

image
How many times have you paid full-price for a full-size product, only to get home and not like it? Buyer’s remorse anyone? But then you feel embarrassed to return the item, therefore feeling obligated to keep using it, just so you don’t feel like you wasted your money. Anyone? I’ve done it more times than I like to recount.

Welcome to the era of subscription services! Subscriptions are not just for magazines anymore! Search the Internet and you can find subscription services for almost anything. You’ve probably heard of “Fruit of the Month”, “Beer of the Month”, and “Flowers of the Month” Clubs. Similar to these clubs, are the new Subscription Services. I have seen subscriptions for all kinds of food, beauty, fashion, pet, baby, and “green” products. And I’ll admit, I am a bit intrigued by them.

BirchBox goodies!

BirchBox goodies!

Most subscription services are similar in that you sign up, register your credit card, and receive a monthly box of goodies! And you can usually cancel at any time, so there’s no long-term commitment.

I currently subscribe to Birchbox, which I’m loving! Birchbox is a beauty subscription service offering beauty samples from an array of brands from Burt’s Bees, to Julep, Benefit Cosmetics, Olay, Simple, IT Cosmetics, and the list goes on! For only $10 per month, I receive at least five, and usually more, beauty samples. And sometimes the box even includes full size products. It’s a flat fee of $10, including shipping. Each month’s box is centered around a theme, and includes a postcard size instruction card describing all of the products included in the box. I think this is a great way to try products before purchasing them in full-size. This way, I know whether or not I like a product and want to commit to paying full price. It’s what I like to call, “Try before I Buy”!

Special Edition Box

Special Edition Box

Other perks of my Birchbox subscription?
1)Free shipping on any full-size product featured in that month’s box.
2)Free shipping on purchases of $50 or more.
3)Free samples with purchases.
4)Occasional opportunities to purchase special/limited edition boxes.
5)They have a generous loyalty program which rewards me every time I shop, refer friends, and give feedback on my monthly samples. I can then redeem points towards full-size purchases!

Now I will admit, that I do not love every single product in every single box. But that’s okay; I also have not loved every single product that I have paid full price for at the local drugstore, discount store, or beauty counter. I have only experienced one problem with any of the boxes from Birchbox. And when I contacted them, they promptly apologized and credited my account for that month’s box. So I guess another perk, would be that they have great customer service!

I’m including lots of pictures so that you can see some of the great products I’ve been receiving in my monthly Birchbox subscription. A few of my absolute favorites have been sunscreen by Coola, Couture LaLa by Juicy Couture, StriVectin-SD eye concentrate, suki exfoliating face cleanser, and so many more! Like I said before, I love this subscription service! If you love beauty products, or are just curious, I encourage you to check out the Birchbox website. You can click on the Birchbox logo on the right side of the blog, or go to http://www.birchbox.com. Tell them Anna sent you! I hope you enjoy Birchbox as much as I do. And if you don’t, you can always cancel your subscription at any time! As always, I’d love to hear what you think. So please leave me a comment!

It’s Currently Time!

I love this part of my week! It forces me to take time to sit and think about what I’ve been doing recently. And it give me the opportunity to share with you, and you with me!

I’m Currently

Reviewing: Lots of fantastic products and companies! My latest review is for ENERGYbits, and you can read all about how I’ve started using these little “bits of food” (algae) to energize me for my runs. I’ll be taking the last of my sample provided by ENERGYbits tomorrow before participating in a 5k. Wish me luck!

And I promise, very soon, I’ll be reviewing my beauty subscription service, Birchbox!

Wishing: My house would sell quickly! I’m so ready to move to town!

Our home

Our home

Eating: Fresh Produce! I love summer! My own square foot garden, the farmers market, and even the grocers have great tasting fresh berries!
image
Carrying: My iPad! Yes, it’s an obsession. And I’m okay with that!

image
Running: Wow, this one’s easy. I’m running a lot now, and loving it. God has sent me two beautiful women to run with for the summer at least. This has breathed new life into my attitude and motivation. We encourage one another and spur each other on to greatness. Well, our own form of greatness! I’m scheduled to run a 5k in the morning, my second of the season. At the beginning of 2013 I set a goal of participating in six timed events this year! I’m a little behind, but I’m confident I will be able get them all in! I can do all things thru Him who gives me strength! (Philippians 4:13)

Remember, drop me a line in the comment section and let me know what you’ve been up to! I’d love to hear from you. And if you’d like to start running with me, consider this your invitation! Hope you enjoyed all the photos today! See you all next week!

Boost Your Energy-Naturally!

Are you looking for more mental vitality, more physical energy, or a quick way to boost your athletic performance?  ENERGYbits algae tabs are your answer. Yes, I said algae. These bits are rapidly becoming the fuel of choice for runners, athletes, or anyone who wants to be energized naturally. They have the highest concentration of protein in the world and deliver a steady stream of energy without sugar, caffeine, chemicals, or stomach distress. Now if you are like me, your first thought is, “Eeeww..gross. Algae?” And, I must admit, I am a wimp when it comes to taking pills. But these tabs are not considered to be pills; they are actually tiny bits of food. The folks at ENERGYbits were kind enough to send me a sample tin including 50 tabs to sample and review.
image
At first, I was skeptical. Like I said, I don’t like taking pills and I really didn’t like the idea of swallowing algae! But I had agreed to give them a try, and, after all, a deal is a deal. The recommended directions say to swallow 30 tabs 10 – 15 minutes before going for a run. Really? 30? I was in trouble. But, here goes… Now, just to make sure that they did not upset my stomach or come back up during a run, I decided for my initial trial, I would only take 10 tabs. I must say, they went down fairly easily and quickly. And so I was off and running! Surprisingly, for me, I did not get nauseated, nor did I burp up the flavor of algae. Thank goodness! They passed the initial test! Of course, I also did not notice any difference in my energy level during that run. But, as you may have noted, I had not taken the recommended amount. So to give them a fair shake, and before writing any type of review, I knew that I had to take them again. Only this time, I was determined to swallow 20 tabs for my next run!
image
That was this morning. I took two at a time, and again, they went down really quickly and easily. I’m now thinking, “I can do this!” And I have to admit, that I actually did seem to have more energy and was not as exhausted at the end of my run as I usually am. Now I did not set a personal record, nor am I ready to try out for the Olympics. But I am ready, and a little excited, to try the final 20 tabs that are left in my tin. As a matter of fact, I’m having a hard time deciding whether I should take them for my next run this week, or save them for a 5K that I’m running on Saturday. So there you have it. There is so much information on Energybits, that I couldn’t possibly fit it all into one post. Each bit has only one ingredient-Algae. Yet, they contain 40 vitamins and minerals, Omega 3 and 64% protein. That’s 3 times more protein than in a steak! And each tab has only one calorie. It’s like carrying a mini meal in your purse or pocket. For more information, you can go to the website http://www.energybits.com. If you decide to place an order, enter the word Blog” into the coupon box and you will receive a 10% discount! Be sure to check out the website because they also offer recovery, vitality, and skinny bits. Now it’s your turn. Add more life to yours one bit at a time!

My Crazy, Blessed Life!

So maybe you’ve been wondering where I’ve been. And then again, maybe you haven’t missed me at all. Either way, here’s a quick recap of what’s been happening in my crazy, blessed life!
All kinds of blogging ideas have been running through my head: I want to write a review for my favorite beauty subscription service, Birchbox.
I think I have found a running buddy. At least for the summer. I need to write a post about that.
Oh, and I also belong to the subscription service called Naturebox. I get these fabulous healthy treats delivered to my door once a month! I need to write a review about that too.
Then there’s the Brad Paisley concert tickets I won! Can’t wait to tell you all about that!
And food. All of the glorious food! I can’t begin to tell you how many photos I have of recipes, dinners out in great restaurants, and some of our get-togethers.

You see, I have a lot to write about. And it always seems like I’m in the shower and I think, “Oh! I need to write a blog post about this!” Especially when I’m using my Olay total effects seven in one body wash. I think, I need to tell people about how great this stuff is! Then, of course, the second I step out of my shower, life begins again.

In the middle of all of these great blogging ideas, my husband and I have decided to put our house on the market. Stop. That’s right. For sale. You want to talk about crazy. We have lived in the same home for 30 years. Raised our kids here, hosted numerous friends and family get-togethers, remodeled, upgraded, built an outdoor fireplace and patio, and created more memories than this aging mind can recount. It’s the only home we’ve ever known. We are truly blessed. But our kids are grown now, and we feel its time to downsize and move closer to the city. Thus, the cleaning, decluttering, painting, fixing, donating, craziness has begun! It’s been a little overwhelming, both emotionally and physically. This is what has been taking up the majority of my time. We just listed the house last week, and have had our first showing. We have also begun scouring the neighborhoods and the Internet for a new home. I’ve been praying a lot. Now it’s in God’s hands! He knows if the timing is right or not. And He knows who needs to love our home next. I’m trusting Him.

For now, I’m going to post some random photos of some of the things I mentioned earlier. I hope you enjoy them. Please leave me a comment and let me know your favorites! Oh, and if you’d like, you can say a prayer for my husband and me and our home! Thanks, and talk with you all again soon! Hope you are having a great week! May your summer be as crazy and blessed as mine! Or at least as blessed!

Breakfast of Champions, with Chia Seeds!

image

So I finally found Dole Chia seeds at my local Kroger, thanks to a friend who works there! In the nutrition/health food aisle, way down on a bottom shelf. I’ve been looking for them for awhile because I want to try them in my morning smoothies. Chia seeds are one of the latest and greatest nutritional supplements. As a matter of fact, they are part of the Dole nutrition plus line. They contain Omega 3, fiber, and calcium, and is considered a super food!

imageimage

In an earlier Breakfast of Champions post, I stated how I like to use the Yoplait frozen smoothie bags which include frozen fruit and yogurt cubes as a base for my smoothies. So today was no different. Started with the Yoplait, adding milk and banana. But this time I added the Dole Chia Seeds instead of wheat germ. You can see some seeds in the close up picture! I have to say, I really like it! The seeds add a crunch and little bit of nuttiness to the smoothie. Now, they do tend to stick in my teeth a little (they are seeds after all). But overall, I really like adding them. I think the added nutrition is worth the tiny annoyance! My final thoughts? I will be adding these to my diet on a regular basis! And of course, you can add them to much more than smoothies. They can be added to oatmeal, juices, sandwich spreads, sprinkled on salads, and so much more. The possibilities are as varied as your imagination!
