Ah, summer. What? Summer?! Yes, summer is upon us. Even though the official first day is still a few weeks away, the weather is warming, schools are dismissing, and beaches are calling. Having recently returned from a beachy vacay myself, I thought it only appropriate to share some tips on my favorite beach necessities. Besides, it gave me a reason to take all these fun pictures which my sister thought were crazy! And, none of my tips have anything to do with losing weight, exercising, or fitting into the perfect suit. So just grab your old suit, or buy a new one if you feel the need. But here’s the important stuff:(You can click on each image to enlarge flip thru them!)
Gotta protect your beautiful eyes!
A nice vinyl bag to carry dry goods or lunch! Ours contained drinks, wiches, and grapes.
Flip flops for traipsing back and forth to car and restrooms!
Most importantly, you need a good sunscreen. And of course, a good lip balm to protect your sexy self!
A good coverup is always in style!
I love my Pentax. It’s water proof so I can even take it snorkeling!
Gotta have a towel.
A good book to read. Sorry, mine’s about eating!
Ah, and a comfy chair. These are great because they have shoulder straps for carrying, a pocket on back for stowing that sunscreen, and built in cup holders!
I have to thank my lovely daughter and son-in-law for loaning us their home close to the beach. And their chairs, towels, and beach bag! Imagine trying to pack those things on a plane!
Now get out there and enjoy your summer! And don’t forget the sunscreen.

I love the Brad Paisley song, Working On A Tan. And I must say, I was a little disappointed that he didn’t sing it when my husband and I went to his concert before I left for Savannah. But, that’s another story. I think I like this song because its upbeat, and it’s about going to the beach, which I love. (It’s also on my running playlist)
Tuesday, we spent a few hours, which is more than enough, at Tybee Island. It’s only about thirty minutes from my daughter’s house, making it über convenient. The drive over is worth the trip simply for the views. And this is a great time to go because the weather is perfect and kids are still in school; meaning vacationing families have not taken over the island.
Anyway, to keep this post short and sweet, we had a great day, got a slight burn even after applying sunscreen, and plan on returning!
Well I made it to my daughter’s in Savannah. But first I encountered a nice surprise. As my sister and I were readying to board our plane from home, we looked up and spotted a friend who was boarding the same plane! We had a great time catching up! What a nice surprise.
After getting up at 4:00 am to take my daughter and son-in-law to the airport, I managed to get a run in at the park. I meant to take a picture, but of course I was hot and sweaty and forgot. My sister did take a picture of me running though. Of my best side!
One of today’s highlights was our trip downtown to The Coffee Fox, a new establishment of my favorite kind. Yum-O
